Hands-on Design Evaluation / Mock Tests
This Hands-on Design Evaluation / Mock Tests is a continuation of the International Accreditation Progamme and a “must attend” for those who wish to pursue the AIFD accreditation.
Accredited membership in AIFD is extremely selective and can be obtained only after s/he has effectively demonstrated advanced professional ability of his or her floral artistry at the AIFD PFDE to be held annually at the AIFD national symposium at one of the cities in USA. As an accredited member of AIFD, s/he will be able to use the “AIFD” trademark and together with the CFD designation as addendums to the name.
Designed according to the AIFD PFDE run down, the students will be given topics for the five design categories to be completed within the four hours limit at each lesson. An interactive review will be conducted at the end of the four hours design session to go through their design techniques, mechanics and performance so that s/he will be able to understand their strength and focus on deepen their floral knowledges and skills for better preparation of AIFD PFDE to be held annually at USA.

About Solomon Bloemen and AIFD
Dr. Solomon Leong has been a member of the AIFD since 2002. In 2017, Dr. Solomon Leong has successfully become an AIFD Certified Floral Evaluator/Judge and is proud to be part of the AIFD Floral Demonstration in 2017 National Symposium.Only a handful of flower school in Hong Kong are able to become AIFD Education Partner and more importantly, to successfully lead the students to obtain the AIFD accreditation in the AIFD PFDE (Professional Floral Design Evaluation).

AIFD – American Institute of Floral Designers
Established in 1965, the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) is, today, the floral industry’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to establishing, maintaining and recognizing the highest standard of professional floral design. AIFD and its worldwide accredited members are in the forefront of the industry and they are an extraordinary group of talented artists.
CFD – Certified Floral Designer
In order to become an internationally recognized Certified Floral Designer (CFD), you must attend and successfully complete the appropriate floral design program from an AIFD® Education Partner, like the CFD programme in Solomon Bloemen Flower School and then pass the AIFD online test. Students will be awarded with the CFD designation by AIFD and be listed in the AIFD online and printed directories. Proper annual fees and continuing education at AIFD is required to maintained the CFD designation.
AIFD PFDE – AIFD Professional Floral Design Evaluation
This is the only way to become an Accredited member of AIFD – participate in the professional Floral Design Evaluation and achieve scores at the level required to receive an invitation to AIFD.
This is a four (4) hour hands-on design evaluation consisting of five (5) designs. You must also pass the AIFD online test with 80% or higher to be eligible to participate in PFDE. Participants must have a cumulative score of 20.0 (4.0 average) with no individual design scoring below 3.75 to be invited as a member of AIFD.
National Symposium
Each summer, AIFD presents its acclaimed National Symposium. Considered to be the most important design education event in the floral industry, this dynamic conclave attracts designers, educators and interested individuals from all corners of the world. And PFDE usually holds prior to the National Symposium.
